Getting to & from Varkala

Varkala is well connected by road to all parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. There are many travel options such as buses, trains, flights and taxis that one can choose from.

By Air – The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport located 50 km away. Taxis or private cars can be hired from outside the airport and will take over an hour to get to Varkala.

By Train – If you’re coming from Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) or Kochi (Cochin), the faster, more comfortable and less expensive option will be travelling by train to Varkala Station. From the station, taxis and auto rickshaws can be hired.

By Bus – Efficient, government run, air conditioned, low floored buses run from Stand 19 at Trivandrum’s brand new (2014) bus terminal opposite the train station. Bus services are also available from Varkala to many parts of South Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

By Car – Varkala is linked by state and national highways to all the major cities in Kerala, Tamilnadu and Karnataka.
