Jodhpur has one of the most impressive forts across India, some would even say it’s the best in the world. It is clearly the highlight of your visit to Jodhpur. Mehrangarh Fort is so spectacular, it was used as a backdrop in one of the recent Batman movies.

After you’ve seen the fort, what else is there to see in Jodhpur? To help you plan your holiday, we’ve created two itineraries that cover everything you should see while visiting Jodhpur.

For each attraction mentioned below click the link for more details.

Jodhpur Sightseeing Itineraries

See below for 1-Day and 2-Day itineraries for Jodhpur. Choose an itinerary that suits your travel needs.

Jodhpur 1-Day Itinerary (Our Recommended Travel Time)

If you only have 1 day in Jodhpur, we have a great solution below which allows you to see the main attractions.

Start your day with a visit to Mehrangarh Fort. If you’re an early riser and would like to see more of this magnificent fort enter through the Western entrance. The walk starts in the old town and involves a lot of steps going uphill to the main entrance. During your walk through the Fort you will see how it was built with its excellent multiwall defenses.

There is a good detailed audio guide for the Fort or you could hire a local guide at the Fort.

Lunch can be found inside the Fort or in the old town nearby.

After visiting the Fort, head down the hill towards town to see the other popular attraction in the area – Jaswant Thada. You can walk from the Fort if you’re feeling energetic or catch a tuk-tuk. This Moghul monument to the Maharanas of Marwar is a good example of tomb building and is worth the visit. You will get great views of Jodhpur as you walk along the hill, especially from near the statue on the hill in front of Jaswant Thada.

We recommend dinner at one of the rooftop restaurants in town. The best views of Mehrangarh Fort can be had from the rooftops of these restaurants.

If you have time and are only doing a 1-day trip to Jodhpur, consider taking a self-guided walking tour around the centre of town. Alternatively, try your hand at bargaining while shopping at the main market in town.

Jodhpur 2-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Follow the itinerary above.

Day 2

Start with the walking tour of Jodhpur city that takes you past old buildings, markets and other interesting sites. During your walking tour you can do some shopping at the main market in town.

Then stop for lunch before heading out to Umaid Bhavan Palace.

If you have time after visiting the Palace, consider stopping at Mandore Garden to see the old ruined tombs of the Maharanas. Look out for the monkeys that roam these gardens, and keep your bags and valuables safe.
