Getting to & from Hampi

Due to its remote location in the northeast of Karnataka it is impossible to reach Hampi by air or train; only bus or private car options exist.

By Air – The nearest airport is at Hubli, 143km away from Hampi. Flights from metropolitan cities such as Mumbai and Bangalore to Hubli are regular.

By Train – The nearest railway station is Hospet Junction 13km away. Overnight trains run several times a week from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore and Goa. This is the best option of getting to Hampi as the trains are much cheaper and more comfortable than tourist buses.

By Bus – From Hospet it is possible to get to Hampi by government bus, auto rickshaw or private car. An auto rickshaw or private car is the most comfortable and convenient option. Buses to Hampi are cheaper and provide an affordable way to travel to Hampi especially if you’re staying in Hospet.

 

Getting around Hampi

A bicycle is the best way to explore Hampi if you enjoy history, culture and nature. It usually costs about Rs 100 per day. A helmet and a lock are included in the price. Some walking is still required for exploring inside the sites.
