Sitting on Happy Bay at the north end of the island, Long Island Resort is a comfortable, mid-range place that has been touted as a resort for everyone. It offers guests three levels of accommodation, kids are welcome here and there’s a wide range of activities to keep everyone happy. The lodge units are small and austere, and bathroom facilities are shared; for the price, you are better off spending the extra to stay in the beachfront or garden rooms.

Tip – Always check the internet or the agents in Airlie Beach for stand-by rates, as they can be significantly cheaper.

 

Long Island Whitsundays Activities

There is something for everyone at Long Island Whitsundays.

Walking Tracks – There are 13km of walking tracks including some fabulous short walks that lead to some fine lookouts across the Whitsundays. Some popular short walks include the 600m stroll to Humpy Point and the 4.4km walk to Sandy Bay.

Water Sports – The two northern resorts on the island have a range of water sports equipment. Long Island Resort has a wider selection, hiring out dinghies and jet skis and offering water-skiing and parasailing.

Snorkelling & Diving – Long Island Dive & Snorkel has a range of courses, gear for hire and trips for certified divers.

Sea Kayaking – South Long Island Nature Lodge located on the southern side of the island has sea kayaking available for its guests.

Long Island Whitsundays is located very close to the mainland so the easiest way to get here is on a ferry from Shute Harbour.
