Khajuraho has hot summers and cool winters. The best time to visit Khajuraho is between the months of October and March when the weather is cool and pleasant making it easy to visit the outdoor attractions. From April to June it becomes very hot, dry and dusty.

Summers, during March to May, have a scorching maximum temperature of 47°C and winters, during December to February, have a freezing minimum temperature of 4°C. Monsoons are associated with strong winds and have heavy rainfalls during June to August.

 

Events & Festivals in Khajuraho

It is worth scheduling a visit to Khajuraho during one of their fairs or festivals that are held on a grand scale as the city is the most colourful and liveliest at this time. Be prepared for throngs of tourists, both local and foreigners, during this time.

  • Khajuraho Dance Festival, held during 25th February to 2nd March every year, attracts many tourists to the city. The dance festival takes place in an open air auditorium in front of the famous Chitragupta Temple.
