Getting to & from Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is well connected by air, rail and bus transport to the rest of India. The only international flights are between Varanasi and Kathmandu. Otherwise, the nearest international airport is Delhi.

By Air – There are several domestic flights from major metropolitan cities in India including Delhi to Agra, Varanasi, Lucknow and Allahabad.

By Train – The best connected train stations are Agra, Lucknow, Allahabad and Varanasi. There are regular trains from all major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Jaipur.

By Bus – It is not advisable to travel long distance by bus in India as the road conditions are terrible and the journey will be long and uncomfortable. Nevertheless, government and private bus transport is available between cities in Uttar Pradesh as well as from neighbouring states such as Rajasthan and Delhi.

Bus services between Delhi and Agra is very common for day trippers and leave Delhi very early in the morning, returning to Delhi in the evening. Also, there are regular buses from Delhi to Agra several times a day as this is a very popular route.
