Getting around Mumbai

Several modes of transport operate throughout the city making it easy and affordable to get to and from the Mumbai tourist places.

For the budget traveller, the Mumbai train system is extensive, efficient and regular. Avoid rush hour unless you want to be crushed like a sardine in a stuffy train compartment. Women-only carriages make travelling as a woman easier in Mumbai.

For travellers who prefer more comfortable travel options, there are numerous taxis and auto rickshaws available throughout the city, although it can be difficult to find an auto rickshaw in certain parts of Mumbai. Of course, private cars with chauffeurs can also be booked through hotels in the city.
