Getting to & from Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari is well connected to the rest of India via air, rail and road.

By Air – Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) in the state of Kerala is the nearest international airport, with direct flights from the Middle East, Singapore, Maldives and Sri Lanka. From there it takes about three hours by train or bus or taxi.

By Train – This is the best way to travel to and from Kanyakumari as Kanyakumari Junction is well connected to all major cities in India such as Chennai, Trivandrum, Kochi, Bangalore, Bombay, New Delhi, Kolkata and Coimbatore. The longest train journey in India is from Kanyakumari to Jammu.

By Bus – Buses are frequently available from Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the closest major transport hub. Long distance buses are also available from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Bangalore.

 

Getting around Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari is a small seaside town and most of the attractions are situated within minutes of each other along the coast. It is possible and preferable to walk around town to visit the various sites while, at the same time, watching the pilgrims in action and enjoying the atmosphere at the street markets.
