Being a coastal town, Kalbarri restaurants largely cater to a seafood menu with fresh fish and other seafood varieties sourced from the local fishermen. Of the Kalbarri restaurants, Restaurant Upstairs, Echo Beach and Finlay’s Fresh Fish BBQ are the top spots to visit. As the name suggests, Restaurant Upstairs is located upstairs with beautiful vistas overlooking the waterfront. It boasts an Asian/Australian seafood menu including lobsters. Echo Beach serves up delicious Mod-Oz cuisine including its specialty – outback tasting platter (barbecue kangaroo skewers, tempura crocodile, smoked rabbit, Murchison goat cutlets and bush tomato relish). Finlay’s, a former fish factory, is situated in a big tin shed and serves up huge portions of home-style barbecued seafood and steaks.
In addition to the above restaurants, there are also many cafés in town which are located on Grey Street along the waterfront. Places like Gorges Café, Black Rock Café and Grass Tree have a funky, laid-back feel to it. These are great spots for a good breakfast and/or lunch.
In addition to the restaurants in Kalbarri, there are supermarkets and takeaways at the shopping centres.
Our pick for ‘Best value Kalbarri restaurant’ is Restaurant Upstairs – overlooking the waterfront and boasting an incredible seafood and steak menu.
