Fun Attractions

Bright is tailored towards families and kids with fun attractions for the young at heart. You can choose to get lost in Australia’s largest living hedge maze or splash around in Bright’s latest water-based theme park.

Wandiligong Maze
Lose yourself for hours in Australia’s largest living hedge maze, with over 2kms of pathways. When you find the way out reward yourself at the yummy cafe with a drink and their famous sponge cake.

Bright Splash Park
Kids will love the gold mining-themed splash park at Bright’s Centenary Park. It’s especially great fun on hot summer days. 

Easy Cycling Activities

There are numerous cycling paths winding through Bright and its surrounds. The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is the perfect cycling path for a family peddle. Located an easy 6km away are the neighbouring towns of Wandiligong or Porepunkah – both great places to visit with the kids.

Cycle the easy sealed Bennett’s Trail to charming Wandiligong. Enjoy stopping off at some of the lovely cafes and farm gates along the way for some tasty local treats for the kids.

Pedal along the flat and gentle Murray to Mountains Rail Trail from Bright to Porepunkah, while taking in spectacular mountain views along the way.

Scenic Walking Trails

Many great walks are located in the area so get outdoors, stretch your legs and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Some recommended walks are the Canyon Walk in Bright and the Diggings Walk in Wandiligong.

Canyon Walk
Bright’s most popular walk takes you past a small canyon carved by the Ovens River and amazing water races carved by the hands of early miners.

Diggings Walk
This historic walking trail takes you past the Chinese bridge and the gold mining area in the charming town of Wandiligong.

Colourful Festivals & Events

There are numerous festivals and events held in Bright throughout the year. Many of them cater for families and kids so expect lots of fun activities, good food and plenty of music.

Head to Bright in Spring, Summer or Autumn for some of the best festivals in town.

Bright Autumn Festival
If you’re visiting Bright in April, don’t miss the Bright Autumn Festival which is packed with fun activities for the entire family. Kids will love the monster market, bands and Gala Day parade, while mums and dads can enjoy some of the fine food and wine on offer and browse the street stalls and art and craft exhibitions.

Bright Spring Festival
Head to Bright in October for the Bright Spring Festival where there’s plenty on offer for the whole family to enjoy. Whether it’s nabbing a bargain or stocking up on local produce at the Make It, Bake It, Grow It Market, honing your gardening skills with inspiring open gardens and workshops or enjoying the grand fireworks spectacular with the kids, every family member is sure to have a fun time.

Tasty Treats at Farm Gates

Bright abounds with fresh local produce and the best place to get your hands on some of the delicious organic varieties grown in the area are at the farm gates around town. Take the kids and eat as you go along.

Bright Berry Farm
Go for a visit to Bright Berry Farm to buy some pre-picked berries, ice-creams and sorbets. Sit under the trees while enjoying the famous Bright Berry Farms Berry Cup while soaking in the views of Mount Buffalo! Great spot to stop off and refresh while cycling along the Rail Trail.

Nightingale Bros – Alpine Apples
Take a trip to this farm gate in Wandiligong for fresh and delicious locally grown apples, chestnuts, hazelnuts and walnuts. It’s  a great place to stop at on a cycling trip to Wandiligong.  

Variety of Shops

Bright has a great array of shops to treat the little ones. From toy shops to sweet shops and ice creameries there’s definitely something for everyone.

Many stores are open seven day a week all year round so head in and pick up some original items.

Stock up on pre-ride energy (of the gourmet variety) or spoil yourself at the end of a ride and discover Australian craft chocolate made from bean to bar using ethically sourced, single-origin cacao.
