- Jaswant Thada is a 19th century royal cenotaph built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in commemoration of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur
- This beautiful architectural landmark of Jodhpur is known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar
- Before the entrance to Jaswant Thada is a life-size marble statue of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II seated on a horse
- The memorial is built from intricately carved sheets of marble which are extremely thin and polished to emit a warm golden glow when the sun’s rays fall across the surface
- The cenotaph has beautiful marble jali (carved marble lattice screens) work designed to make it look like a temple
- In addition to the main tomb of Jaswant Singh II, there are two more tombs inside the cenotaph
- Photos of the Maharajas adorn the tombs covered with beautiful flowers and sandalwood incense

To get to Jaswant Thada you have to go through the rocky hills which lends a mystic aura to the whole visit. If you’re combining a visit to Jaswant Thada with Mehrangarh Fort, exit from the north entrance of the fort and walk up Mehrangarh Fort Road. The walk to Jaswant Thada is quite strenuous; however, there are beautiful vistas to be had along the way. The panoramic views take in the small lake and the memorial against a backdrop of red sandstone hills.
