In addition to hosting concerts, International Music Centre Ashram Varanasi also teaches Indian classical music and yoga. If you’re interested in learning to play the tabla, sitar, santoor, sahanai, flute, sarangi, violin, mridangam, kathak or bharatnatyam dance, reiki, meditation or pranayam yoga, head over to the Ashram for more information on tuitions.
In addition to the Ashram, there are several musical instruments shops on Bengali Tola who also offer training in Indian classical music. If you’d like to learn to play the tabla (set of two small drums) in Varanasi, which is renowned for its tabla merchants, head for Triveni Music Centre (D24/38 Pandey Ghat) and ask for Nandlal. Nandlal and his father also stage regular concerts at Triveni.
Upcoming events listings can be found at restaurants in Bengali Tola off Dashashwamedh Road.
